How would you handle paired characters, well I'll ask about the two types:

Type One: Characters that share one body, especially if at one point they were separate (Like Greed and Ling here, or Tsutomu and Birdy from Birdy the Mighty)

Type Two: Characters that while separate are generally treated as one unit, like a malleable protagonist and the talking animal/fairy/etc that serves as their voice/hint guide
